What are orthotics?

Are you experiencing foot pain? Maybe knee or shin pain? Or perhaps you think you walk incorrectly resulting in lower back pain? If so, you may want to consider orthotics!

Orthotics, or medical insoles are shoe inserts that help support the abnormal alignment of movement of your feet. Designed exclusively for your needs and footwear, they are inserted into your existing footwear to ensure you are provided with consistent support.

At Jones Health, we understand each foot is different. All our orthotics are made of different materials and are customised and tailored to your requirements.

What do orthotics do?

Orthotics provide support that over the counter inserts cannot achieve. They are designed for your individual foot type and symptoms. Some functions of orthotics include:

Providing cushioning and comfort

  • Support the abnormality movement of your feet
  • Treat foot and leg pain
  • Correct alignment and gait
  • Stabilise the lower limb
  • Provide support in unsupportive footwear
  • Relax overused muscles and decrease fatigue
  • Support flat feet or high arches
  • Treat paediatric foot conditions such as heel pain

Whether you are a child just starting to play soccer or an experienced athlete, our Podiatrists will go over all the treatment options with you and discuss whether orthotics and what type of orthotics, may be right for you. At Jones Health, we believe your greatest wealth is your health and it is our job to keep you active- pain free!
